Elim Sanctuary Choir heads to Italy

- Rochester's Elim Christian Fellowship Sanctuary Choir will head to Italy June 19-22 for the Tuscany International Choral Festival.

Jason Monroe, the Choir's Minister of Music, and Charmaine Owens, a Choir member, discussed the trip Tuesday on News 8 at Noon.

The 10 year old Gospel Choir will perform three concerts during the festival.  In between performances, members will enjoy the opening and closing ceremonies, tour the region and enjoy the company of other choirs.

"We consider it a privilege and an honor to proclaim the word of God in song and service both at our Rochester church and abroad," said Monroe.

The Elim Sanctuary Choir has been a runner-up twice in the Verizon Wireless "How Sweet the Sound Choir Competition" and in the 2012 was the Pathmark Apollo Best Choir Competition grand prize winner.  It has been featured on BET's Bobby Jones Gospel Show and has performed backing vocals for local rocker Lou Gramm.
