The Mays live in Webster. They're taking advantage of free bowling at the Bowl-a-Roll lanes on Jefferson avenue through a national initiative called "Kids Bowl Free." Lori read about the program in a magazine.
Through "Kids Bowl Free," kids ages three to 15 are elligble for two free games a day after they sign up online. Bill Fortino, GM of Bowl-a-Roll, said, ""Students could be at risk during the summer months because they have a lot of idol time. Parents are working and if they're not going to a summer camp or something, this provides them with a vehicle hopefully to keep them out of trouble."
While staying active, according to www.kidsbowlfree.com, bowling two games burns between 320 and 580 calories, something right up Lori's alley, "They're having a good time and it gives them an opportunity to get out of the house and do an activity that the whole family can do together."
Bowl-a-Roll is one of 1200 bowling alleys nationwide offering kids bowl free. However, Bill says it is the only local bowling alley in the Rochester region participating in the program, "I think that it's important to always be active in the community and give back to the community as they do many things for us."
The program runs through August 31st.
