Kim Webb receives Golden Apple

Canandaigua Academy teacher's work ethic only part of her star power

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - Kim Webb doesn’t just have the ability to help students learn.

She also helps student love to learn.

“She’s made me love Global Studies when I never had, she made me want to be school when I’ve never wanted to be, as long as she’s teaching I could be in school 24/7 every day of my life,” said Makaila Wirth, a junior at Canandaigua Academy.

Wirth nominated Webb for a Golden Apple and wrote in her nomination, “I smile as I type this knowing I’m putting in the effort to represent the most passionate person I’ve ever known in my entire life.”

And to think thousands of students have passed through Kim Webb’s classroom since she started Canandaigua Academy in 1989.

“If she could she’d teach 10 periods in a 9 period day. She is always there for all of her students, she develops great relationships, she does everything she possibly can to make sure all of her kids are successful,” said Vernon Tenney, Canandaigua Academy principal.

When Webb received the Golden Apple, she was asked what drives her passion.

“Look at these kids!” she said. “They’re the best kids ever and I love being with my co-teacher. Thank you!”
