Ascension Gardens is trying to bring the process of laying our loved ones to rest back to its natural state.

The modern burial plan is very tough on the environment.  Each year, 77,000 trees are cut down, 1.6 million tons of concrete are poured, and 4.3 million gallons of embalming fluids(a carcinogen) are used according to the Green Burial Council.

Ascension Gardens has no vaults, no caskets with hardware or artificial finishes, and all items much be completely biodegradable.  There is also no embalming.  Once remains are laid to rest, wildflowers will cover the ground and the graves will be marked with a natural stone.

According to a recent AARP survey, green burials are growing in popularity.  Over half of the people surveyed say it's something they would consider.
