Faiport, NY (WROC) - Lots of people in Fairport got to spend their evening listening to some tunes Friday night. It was all part of the Fairport Food and Music Festival.
The two-day festival kicked off with three different bands taking center stage. The event also included a lot of family-friendly activities. Over the past nine years, the festival has raised more than $600,000 for the Golisano Children Hospital.
2014 marks the festival's tenth year running, so organizers decided to change it up a bit.
"For the first time we're trying a Friday kick-off show," explained festival organizer, Rob Burch. "We're calling it our 10th anniversary of a one-year event because ten years ago when we started this, we thought we were only going do to one of them and that would be it."
Festival attendee, Maggie Barker said, "we've come years before and we've always had a lot of fun. We see a lot of people we know, listen to good music and eat good food."
Tomorrow, 25 bands will take the stage at the festival. The fun begins at noon and continues until 10 at night. Kids 12 and under are admitted free.
