Cyber-Bullying Legislation Signed Into Action

It is a big day in the fight against bullying.

County Executive Maggie Brooks signed legislation Monday that will prohibit cyber-bullying in Monroe County. The new law will forbid anyone in the county from bullying someone online who is under the age of 18. Violation of the law can include anywhere from a misdemeanor with $1,000 fine to up to one year in jail.

Recent studies show about 20 percent of all children under the age of 18 have been victims of cyber-bullying.
