Nojay on Astorino, Downtown Theater & Lawmaker Dorm

Republican Assemblyman Bill Nojay stopped by News 8 First at 4 to talk about a variety of topics.

News 8 asked Nojay if Rochester gets its fair share from Albany. He said lawmakers don't have as much control over what gets doled out to localities, because the governor took away "member items." Nojay said the governor has chosen to focus his "slush fund" on Buffalo more than Rochester.

We also asked Nojay about the Moreland Commission, the anti-corruption panel recently disbanded by the governor. Nojay said the commission wasn't working anyway because of interference by Cuomo.

On the governor's race, Nojay believes Astorino is a good candidate, but faces a fundraising challenge.

As for a proposal for a dormitory for state lawmakers in Albany, Nojay called it a dumb idea.
