The American Bar Association issued an opinion that it's ethical for lawyers to look at the Facebook and Twitter pages of jurors and potential jurors.
Rochester attorney Peter Gregory, in an appearance on News 8 First at 4, said this makes sense. For example, a criminal defense attorney may try to find out if someone has relatives who are police officers. They could have a pro-prosecution bias.
However, the ABA said lawyers should not try to friend or follow jurors.
Gregory says the ABA's opinion is another reminder that people should not post anything on social media they don't want the public to see.
